WHO NEEDS PREVENTIVE NUTRITION?
You need a Preventive Nutrition Food Plan if you have atherosclerotic artery disease. That disorder causes heart attack, stroke, aneurysms and peripheral (leg) artery disease. It is why people have angiograms, stents, and bypass surgery. It is why people suffer from symptoms such as angina and leg claudication. If you have had any of these, you need every treatment possible to slow down and stop the progression of atherosclerosis. Preventive nutrition is one of those treatments.
It is a sad fact that almost everyone who has had one of the conditions mentioned above has had atherosclerosis affecting their arteries for decades prior to symptoms or a tragic event. This is called subclinical atherosclerosis and its diagnosis presents the opportunity to begin treatment before it is too late. Simple anatomic screening studies can find the disease and are described at our screening website www.PreventiveSCREENING.net.
Screening of people who have yet to become patients is recommended for all adults at some point in their lives. We agree with the Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Education which recommends screening for
- Every Man at Age 45
- Every Woman at Age 55
- Anyone Younger with:
- Family History of Heart Attack or Stroke
- High Cholesterol
- High Blood Pressure
Whether after symptoms or an event, or after screening studies identify atherosclerosis, nutritional therapy is a cornerstone of treatment. Medicines may be necessary in many circumstances but proper nutrition is more powerful in stopping progression of the disease.
